CARDBOARD CABINS
The 5th grade has been carefully constructing their cardboard cabins. We have taken careful steps in measuring each individually cut piece to fit together. Each house was constructed from scratch and is the original idea of the artist! We are using tacky glue for a strong hold and making the best of our scrap cardboard! Based off of a book the 5th grade is reading, they are to make a cabin in the woods, as they picture it from the book, and design the front yard, back yard, or surrounding areas with trees, bushes, ponds, rocks, bridges, etc. Everything included will be cut and designed from cardboard. I am very impressed with the ideas and textures used! They looks AMAZING so far!
PAPER SCULPTURE : ANIMALS AND ECOSYSTEMS!
The 4th grade is venturing into sculpture and we decided to take a different approach! We wanted to focus on texture and environment since the students are learning about ecosystems. Using construction paper, the 4th grade is discovering ways to really make their animals jump off the paper! I am proud to say they have discovered new techniques beyond what I have demonstrated to them. A majority of the class has successfully finished these gorgeous paper sculptures and I just can't wait to display them! I am even going to have to include a table area for students who actually went the extra mile and literally built off of their paper! So awesome!

STEAMBOAT WILLIE CLIPS
The 3rd grade has taken several weeks learning about the animation process and the beginning of animation. We watched Steamboat Willie and began learning how to draw our characters using basic shapes! Each student made an 8 page progress book to learn how to draw their cell. After completing the books, students received a large sheet of poster paper and gave it their all! The drawings came out phenomenal! We ran into difficulties while applying the paint-but hey, it's all part of the process! I explained it to the students as coloring in a huge coloring book page. We used a different color each class and will end with the first color we started with for touch ups! Once the pictures are dry, they will be outlined one more time and displayed! The 3rd grade worked hard and it shows! Great job!
