A Truly Generous Donation to Our Young Future Artists!
We wanted to take a moment to thank B&J Fabrics, and very special thank you to Scot for taking the time out to generously donate a beautiful variety of fabrics to the Robert Waters School visual arts department. You have enabled our students to explore art forms that incorporate fabric, texture, costume design, and fashion. In addition, our students can begin learning the craft of sewing and the techniques that are included, which we hope, might inspire them to develop a passion for fashion design in the future. This will also allow our students to complete the task of being able to sew buttons back on their pants and shirts or repairs small rips in their clothes or patch their favorite stuffed animal! We are super excited to begin character development during our wacky dolls sewing club! Thanks to your incredibly kind donation, our students have a wide selection to choose from in creating costumes and outfits for their dolls. We cannot wait to post our finished products!
Please also check back, as we will be using fabric to eventually venture into costume and fashion design, creating pieces of clothing for our students to wear! We will also be incorporating the fabrics into our fashion design lesson, where students will be creating a character on paper and using 2D art as a platform, they will cut pieces to dress their figures. Our students look forward to taking turns sewing these dolls for you and dressing them with the fabrics you sent us! We cannot wait to send them over as a loving thank you!
The education of our students is important and so much more, the development of their creativity as that is something we are losing due to over practice and implementation of state testing. It is essential to continue exposing our students to art practices that influence them to participate in artmaking and develop the skills necessary to contribute to careers in the visual arts field.Thank you for making a difference!
